About this trip

Explore the History of Medical Imaging in Europe
Germany · France · United Kingdom — July 25 - August 4, 2026

Join Professor Vicki Shaver and fellow Lambda Nu members from across the country for an extraordinary academic adventure through Germany, France, and the United Kingdom! Our journey begins in Cologne, followed by visits to the fascinating and lesser-traveled towns of Lennep, Würzburg, and Erlangen. In Germany, we’ll explore the Siemens Healthineers MedMuseum and the Laboratory of Wilhelm Röntgen at the University of Würzburg—where X-rays were first discovered. You’ll also visit the Röntgen Museum in Lennep, gaining insight into Röntgen's revolutionary discovery.

From there, we’ll travel by train to Paris for three unforgettable nights. Highlights include a visit to Guerbet Imaging Products and the Curie Museum, where Marie Curie’s pioneering research transformed modern medicine. Our final stop is London, where we’ll explore the rich history of medicine, anatomy, and surgery at the Hunterian Museum, and enjoy a day trip to Oxford, one of the world’s most storied academic centers.

This program offers a rare opportunity to trace the evolution of medical imaging across Europe while experiencing its culture, science, and history firsthand. It’s also a wonderful chance to connect with Lambda Nu peers and expand your global perspective on the imaging profession.

For more information, contact Professor Vicki Shaver at shaverv@palmbeachstate.edu.

Join us for this unforgettable exploration of science, culture, and discovery!
